Ego never has to prove anything. It grows, by making others vulnerable to it. If challenged, (for example, a set of facts) then the self righteous goes into "personal attack mode." From there, it's simply a power grab of making their adversaries less desirable to "the herd mentality." (the ones who are spoon fed the same kind of poison that ego thrives upon to begin with) In addition, ego never allows that person to change their mind. If the information is precooked and prewrapped, it cannot be changed or altered. It only has to be spoonfed in it's current state. Again, good point!
